Rimontgó treats its guests to a Padel Tennis Tournament

Two of the winners of the I Rimontgó Padel Tournament It was “anyone for tennis?” at Massamagrell’s Padel+ Club on Saturday July 2nd as Rimontgó treated some close friends to the I Torneo Rimontgó 2011padel tennis tournament. Located in Massamagrell, just north of Valencia, the padel club stands out for having not only modern outdoor courts but also fully climatised indoor courts.

Resembling in many ways a midway point between tennis and squash, padel tennis is a Spanish variant that is also very popular in countries like Argentina, and is now gaining ground in countries across Western Europe. Fast, fun and very competitive, it has become a favourite of locals and foreign residents in Spain, many of whom have helped to spread the word back home.

Massamagrell's Padel+ Club, ValenciaFrom 10:00 until 14:00hs the courts resounded at Massamagrell to the ‘thwack’ of ball on racquet as a group of very competitive players locked horns in mortal combat! Nobody can deny that padel is an excellent form of exercise, so the players were all very relieved that a catering service was on hand to serve drinks and a paella lunch.

Seven teams competed in the event: Pere Senar and Iker, Ximo and J. Miguel Palanca, José Blanco and Toni, Angel Viñes and Fran, Pablo Astaburuaga and Jorge, Jaume and Rafa, and finally Jorge Sospedra and Juan Luis.

Whether they won or lost, all the participants who were personally invited by Rimontgó to take part in the tournament, agreed that it was a very enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning.
