Altea: dream destination

Seaside town of Altea, AlicanteAltea, a town situated in Alicante, is perhaps the favourite destination of those visiting the Costa Blanca in the Valencian Community, whether it be for a holiday or as a place to live. There are several factors which make Altea such a prime location, as a widely known seaside town, home to both artists and writers alike, including renowned Rafael Alberti and Vicente Blasco Ibáñez.

The restored historical town centre of Altea (more commonly known as El Fornet), carved out by pretty paved streets, is dotted with a wide selection of fine restaurants and boasts the most magnificent views at any angle from a privileged hilltop position. Attractive whitewashed Mediterranean-style houses are often home to small artisanal shops. Another feature which makes Altea particularly attractive is the coves and beaches, lapped by crystal-clear water. The main beaches are Cap Blanch and La Roda, whilst equally beautiful stretches of sand include Mascarat, L’Olla and Cap Negret, a little further afield from Altea.

One of the most impressive sights in Altea has to be the fabulous firework display which is held on the second Saturday of August. Set off over the sea in front of the bay of Altea, every year it attracts more than 50,000 spectators.

Views of AlteaFinally, as is the case for many seaside towns along the Costa Blanca in Alicante, such as Jávea and Dénia, the superb cuisine of Altea is certainly a strong point. A variety of rice dishes, from plainer to creamier textures, salt-cured foods, cruet de peix (a stew made with a rockfish stock, a specialty shared with Ibiza) and caragols amb ceba (snails with onions); just a few of the delicious recipes to tempt you if you happen to find yourself near Altea.

Rimontgó offers two superb options to really make the most of any stay in Altea: two exclusive homes selected from Sareb’s Paramount project, a portfolio of high-end properties marketed by Rimontgó, in collaboration with Catella at rather attractive prices. The first of these properties is a beautiful villa with views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Bernia mountain range, located in Altea La Vella, whilst the second is another luxuriously appointed villa nestled in the desirable residential area of Mascarat.
